Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 2014 This thesis is carried out to investigate the effectiveness of using of pair work and group work activities to develop speaking skills for the first year non-English major students at Hanoi Community College. Two classes are taught speaking by two different methods: one class is taught by a teacher according to the program of the course book while a second class includes use of pair/group work. Two data collection instruments are used: pre-test/post-test and questionnaires. The results of the research show the differences between the two classes. The ability of speaking of the group that use pair/group work improves. This suggests that the use of pair/group work assisted learning program for at least some of the teaching time available can be recommended for speaking lessons. Electronic Resources |
