Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 2013 Following the global educational changes, teachers in Vietnam are applying more group activities to English lessons. However, whether those group activities are effective in teaching students is still a big question for not only the teachers but also the authorities. As one of the first attempts to inspect the effectiveness of Group work, the paper sheds light on students’ perception of these activities. For the accomplishment of these purposes, 276 students have undertaken the two data collection method of interviews and questionnaires. The results reflected the current situation of Group work activities and also revealed that the efficiency of the process in fostering cooperation and improving students’ proficiencies was still limited. Thus, to facilitate Group work in class, both micro and macro level solutions should be put forward for a more various discussion topics, a better organization of class size, a more motivational marking system, a less restrained syllabus, improved testing and varied assessment methods, as well as an additional group processing stage Electronic Resources |
