Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 2013 Teaching vocabulary can be somewhat easy and enjoyable for the students since it is intended, the students are easy to keep the new words in their mind. Needless to say, English teachers have to use good methods and techniques in teaching vocabulary to young learners. In this thesis, the author chooses dialogues as a technique to teach vocabulary for second-year non-English major students at Hanoi University of Industry. The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of this technique to students’ vocabulary acquisition. To reach this aim the writer conducted an action research with 30 students from the class, H3 during four weeks in the second semester of the year 2011-2012.Pre-test, post-test and group interview were used as the data collection instrument. T-test Paired Sample was used to measure the differences in developing students' proficiency in vocabulary between the pre-test and post-test of the experimental group. The result of this research from tests and interview can be concluded that this teaching technique was highly appreciated by these experimental students because this new techniques is of great Giúp to them in acquiring vocabulary.
