Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 2011 This study generally attempts to investigate grade 10 students' participation in groupwork activities in speaking lessons. Students’ preference, their involvement as well as their difficulties in oral group activities were identified. Besides, the potential implications of group work activities on the students’ performance in speaking lessons were also determined. To achieve these objectives, 204 participants at Thanh Ha high school were involved. The data were obtained through the analysis of students’ questionnaire, interviews with four teachers of English. The findings show the factors affecting the grade 10 students' participation in groupwork activities. The general results obtained also indicate benefits in students’ speaking when they are working together. Therefore, group work activities could have significant pedagogical implications and could be a practical teaching idea if they are carefully planned to teach speaking skills among the students Electronic Resources |
