However, teaching English to primary school children, especially the first- graders, is different from teaching English to adults, requiring English teachers to learn about children’s characteristics well and have appropriate teaching methods on their age. Among various English teaching methods to children, teaching vocabulary using Total physical Response Activities by Professor James Asher at State University of San Jose is suitable for language teaching to children. This method is carried out basing on the principle of a baby learning his mother tongue. The study’s objective is to describe the procedures of three lessons using TPR activities to teach English vocabulary to the first-graders at Hoa Binh II Primary School to justify its importance and effectiveness on teaching foreign language vocabulary to children. And through qualitatively and quantitatively analysed results, the study draws the exact conclusions on effectiveness of teaching English vocabulary to primary school children through application of Total Physical Response Activities.
