Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 2012 It is clear that syllabus plays an important role in teaching and learning English; however, there is not an appropriate ESP syllabus for students of Geography at TUE now. Therefore, designing an ESP reading syllabus is very necessary and it is the purpose of this study. The study consists of three parts: Introduction, development, and conclusion. The syllabus was designed based on 100 student’s and 10 ESP teachers’ needs and their difficulties. All information was collected from students and ESP teachers by means of interviews and questionnaires. The result of this study are giving the content of an appropriate ESP reading syllabus with reading topics, reading skills and reading exercises. Some suggestions for teaching methodology, material design, and for assessment procedure and the limitation were also given at the end of the syllabus.
