Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 2012 This study is an attempt to investigate the effectiveness of using lexical chunks to support grade 12th form students in learning to speak English at Vu Tien high school. The main purpose of the study is to gain understandings of the extent to which lexical chunks can support students in their speaking activities. In order to achieve this purpose, action research approach was adopted. Two questionnaires, which were administered to seventy students before and after the experiment of using lexical chunks in speaking lessons, were used to collect the data. Findings show that learning lexical chunks not only brings out students’ improvement and motivation in speaking skills but also results in students’ better understanding of English grammar. The thesis concludes with some suggestions for the use of lexical chunks and for further research on the topic Electronic Resources |
