Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 2012 The main aim of this action research carried out at Haiphong Community College (HPCC) is to investigate whether teaching sentence writing through students’ peer feedback is effective or not, the way in which students’ response to their peers’ writings and students’ perceived difficulties when giving feedback to their peers’ writings. The participants involved in the study were 42 students learning English at elementary level at HPCC. The analysis describes the process of students’ giving feedback on all of the four aspects chosen (the use of articles, punctuation, prepositions and word order) at sentence level. The study results show that peer feedback in sentence writing is effective to the students’ learning of writing as students have written better without making mistakes related to the aspects above. Beside the effectiveness of peer written feedback, a number of students at HPCC still have difficulties in indicating the mistakes in their peers’ writings and providing suggestions to improve these mistakes.
